Tasting notes
2014 Los Cardones Tigerstone

12/2017 Big body, nice nose, big fruit. This is a typical Robert Parker "fruit bomb", but it has very high acid. It seems unbalanced to me, and several hours of air did not improve the wine.

01/2015 Very nice - Big body, nice nose, good fruit. This Costco wine is a great deal for the price. Can drink now, but easily age for a few years.

07/2013 Excellent - Big body, nice nose, good fruit. This wine was better than I remembered. This is definitely a special occasion wine.
2009 Bodega Renacer Enamore

10/2012 Excellent - Big body, lots of fruit, well balanced. We tasted this against the 2009 Creta Roble and the 2008 Embruix Vall Llach, both from Spain. This wine seems softer than the other two, has a floral bouquet, and very sweet fruit flavors. This is made using the "appasimento" technique.

This was the second favorite of the three, maybe because it was the most expensive. This is a complex blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bonarda.

2009 Norton Privada

09/2012 Very nice - Big body, nice nose, medium fruit - a bit restrained. This was recommended in the CostCo Wine Blog. This is a blend of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet.
2007 Cuvelier Los Andes Collecion
Malbec-Cabernet

07/2012 Very good - Big body, nice nose. This wine was interesting, very spicy, a typical Robert Parker fruit bomb. Some bottles seem strange / off (1 out of 3), a bit unbalanced and lacking fruit.
2009 Tikal Patriota
Bonarda

02/2011 Very nice - Big body, nice nose, good fruit. This wine is a Bordeaux blend, and it has some complexity. This needs two years of age to drink.
2005 Melipal Malbec

12/2008 Nice wine - medium body and fruit. Tasted this wine along with some Spanish wines, which seemed more well rounded (due to oak).

07/2005 Very nice - big body and fruit. This is a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. We had this with grilled beef, and it was great. Expensive, but worth the price.

02/2004 Nice - medium body, good fruit. This tasted better than previous vintages of this wine.
1994 Malbec
Bodega Weinert

07/2000 Very nice - medium body, good fruit. This wine has more depth due to age than the Carrascal. It tastes similar to a Merlot. The price is a bit high for this wine.
1996 Carrascal
Bodega Weinert

***

07/2000 Very nice - medium body, good fruit. This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Merlot. It was young and lively and fruity, and much more palatable than the Cavas de Weinert. This wine is very good for the price!
1993 Cavas de Weinert
Bodega Weinert

07/2000 Fair - This wine is basically a fancier, longer aged version of the Carrascal. It is a big bodied wine, but the fruit was dried out. No one really liked it much. Not recommended.
